You are one with the Creator of all life, and you have the same characteristics; therefore, you have the potential to bring anything you desire into your own life. Creating a wonderful life is your Divine right and responsibility. Live in your greatness! Hiding in your smallness does not serve anyone. All that is required of you is the following:
Think, feel, and be like the person you want to be.
Hold a clear vision of what you desire, believing that you deserve your goal and knowing it is on its way to you.
Take the necessary action to bring your desires to fruition, knowing that your actions will bring forth the desired result.
Notice opportunities and respond appropriately.
If you don’t realize that you are the creator and director of your life, you will look to the outside world for greater understanding of how the world functions. The result—you will be an observer of life rather than a creator. The status quo, or what is available for most people to observe, is usually far from inspiring. When you look to other people for knowledge, they can only guide you to their knowledge. This may be limiting to you.
All creation is started within the creative mind of the individual. Therefore, it is important to set aside time to do some mental planning, establish your goals, and create a vision of your goals already fulfilled. As you start to think about what you desire most, keep in mind that material things tend to bring only short-term happiness. Research from the field of positive psychology provides evidence that individuals adapt to material gains quickly, making the new car or fancy television old news in a relatively short amount of time. It is not wrong to want material things, but know that such things will not bring sustainable satisfaction. If you desire happiness, look to add goals that are meaningful to you. By meaningful, I mean things that really add to the richness of your life. Meaningful goals usually come through relationships with others, helping someone in a beneficial way, or growing the self in an inspiring manner.
My most meaningful goals include: 1) engaging in, growing, and living my spirituality daily; 2) expanding meaningful relationships with my tribe; and 3) expanding my creative capacity through writing, music, and speaking. Of course, I also include some material items like a Gibson Hummingbird guitar, but I know that the material items only supplement the already great things in my life.
Goals are essential to your vitality in life. Everyone thrives when they have something to work toward and look forward to in life. Goals provide motivation and inspiration as you move through your path. It particularly feels good when your goals are meaningful and benefit others.
In the next article, I will provide more details about how to manage your goals in a productive and fun manner. In the meantime, start to think about what you truly desire.
